Want to build an active Education Action Group (EAG) on campus but not sure how? We'll help you get started! Want to talk tactics on how to push back against the neoliberal attacks on our education? This is the place! Would you like to learn the ins and outs of what's happening to our education system? We've got folks in the know! See the Facebook event for more information.
Sydney Student Protest: No to deregulation, fees, & $100k degrees! (25 March): The Liberal Government and the education minister Christopher Pyne are continuing their attempts to viciously undermine the accessibility of Australian universities. On March 25, students and their supporters across Australia will protest against this. Despite the fact that the vast majority of Australians have rejected their proposals, the Liberal Government is pushing on undeterred. They have vowed to deregulate our universities, slash funding to the sector and attack student welfare. Their plan is to turn Australian universities into a corporate wonderland- a place where degrees cost too much for the poor, where students everywhere are saddled with debt, and where the majority of tertiary institutions labour on with unworkably low levels of funding. We proved last year that protesting works when the Senate rejected Pyne's 'reforms'. But Pyne hasn't gotten the message yet. Let's redeliver it on March 25. See the Facebook event for more information.
